Pump Motor Stalled on hp c6180 All in One

So today I awoke to this lovely message on my hp c6180 all in one printer display: “Pump Motor Stalled”.

Now this printer has been acting funny for about a month – giving me “ink system failure” love notes every now and again.

I finally came across a  way to do a hard system reset – which fixed that problem (if you need to know how to do that, leave a comment here and I will post it).

So I thought I was home free.

Until this morning.

Pump motor stalled – doesn’t sound to good.

But the solution was easy. I just removed all of the ink cartridges. Then I closed the printer and waited for it to ask me to insert new cartridges.

Then I just put all the same cartridges back in the printer.

Problem solved!

Truth be told -  I do believe that this solution is only temporary.

I will let you know when my printer sends me another little snippet of affection.

  1. Thank you so much for the solution. I found your suggestion by doing a Google search. After unplugging, replugging and restarting to no avail, your suggestion was the only thing that worked. Thank you so much for posting as it is much appreciated.

Please post the solution for the pump motor stall and ink system failure. I’m about to scream.

    Thanks

All I did was remove all of the ink cartridges from the printer. Then I closed the printer and waited for it to ask me to install some ink cartridges.

Then I put the ink cartridges back in the printer.

      And it worked!

      No more pump error.

So far so good, it’s been four days.

And I am sure by saying that I have just jinxed myself. ;-)

Let me know how it works out for you.
